I used to play basketball with a friend who was inarguably better than me.
Younger, stronger, faster, and although I’d never admit it to his face –a better athlete. The thing he could NOT do was talk trash. It threw off his concentration, kept him distracted, unfocused. He couldn’t resist getting into a verbal war once I baited him, but he could talk trash or play ball: he could not do both at the same time.
This is how I beat him consistently. This is the power of distraction.
