It is easy to fall into a rut when it comes to clothing. We like to wear clothing the way we always have. Times change so does styles and fits of clothing. These style hacks will help improve your style.
1. Denim
It’s popular today for men to wear their sports jackets with a pair of jeans. Most men put on their favorite pair of weekend jeans and off they go to work. The problem is, their jeans are typically too long, wide or faded. The way to nail this look is to buy the right jeans and have them tailored. The right jean for work is a mid to dark wash, no embellishments, fading and not too tight. The next step is to have them tailored. They should sit at your ankle, and no longer than the top of your shoe. Avoid having a break if possible. The length should closely resemble the length of your dress pant.
2. Shoes
Shoes are the most reliably neglected part of a man’s wardrobe. Never underestimate the impact of a good pair of shoes. The right color and style can make all the difference, and really finish off your look. You should have at least 3 pairs in rotation, a combination of black and brown. In terms of styles, you should have a plain shoe, wingtip/ brogue, and a cap toe. Once you have covered these bases, move on to loafers for the casual areas of your wardrobe.
3. Socks
Socks have been paid great attention over the past number of years. We have witnessed the emergence of bright graphics, bold strips, colors, patterns, and sayings. Socks have been a place where men could discretely express themselves. That time has now drawn to an end, the novelty has worn thin. Subtle patterns and muted colors have taken their place. Socks don’t need to match your trousers or shoes. They only need to complement them. The length of your socks is of great importance too. They should be just below your knee but above the calve. The aim is not to show flesh when you sit down or cross your legs.
4. Jackets
A navy jacket is the anchor of a man’s wardrobe. It is the most reliable item a man can own, because it can be worn for dressy or casual occasions. Navy jackets go with most colors and patterns.
This makes it easy to coordinate with most trousers or shirts. Stay away from gold or silver buttons to increase its versatility.
5. White shirts
Some men find matching colours and patterns for shirts challenging. Even blue shirts can pose difficulties because of the different hues. A white shirt puts all of those concerns to rest, because they are neutral. This means they can be matched with every pattern or color. Buy your shirts preferably without pockets, no need for extra fabric around your chest.
By applying one or more of these style hacks, you will improve your style. Your clothing will fit better, feel better and look better. I believe great style matters because it can impact the professional and social areas of your life.
