As a Software Development Engineer II at Amazon, Aiswarya Gurram is helping build AI-powered technologies designed to make learning content faster and easier to create. Her team’s work focuses on developing intelligent tools that enable course authors to generate high-quality educational content in minutes instead of spending weeks creating it manually.
Aiswarya has played an important role in developing the platform’s core content generation service, which uses Amazon Bedrock foundation models to produce structured learning materials. Her work centered on making the system more reliable and resilient by strengthening the integration with Bedrock.
She developed safeguards for model validation failures, implemented recovery mechanisms for token limit exceptions, and improved the way the system handles edge cases such as invalid document inputs. Rather than allowing users to encounter confusing system failures, these improvements provide clear, actionable feedback while keeping the platform stable for the thousands of content creators who rely on it every day.
Building on that work, Aiswarya is now contributing to the platform’s next evolution: a conversational experience powered by an agentic AI framework. Instead of navigating traditional interfaces or complex workflows, users can simply describe the learning content they want. The AI interprets their intent, reasons through the request, and generates structured courses, assessments, and learning modules with minimal manual effort.
“Agentic AI is fundamentally different from building a traditional API,” Aiswarya says. “You’re not just processing a request and returning a response. You’re creating systems that can understand intent, handle ambiguity, and make meaningful decisions. The goal is to build something that feels like a creative partner rather than just another software tool.”
Although her current work focuses on artificial intelligence, she has been working in the field since December 2025. It is built on a strong foundation in distributed systems and large-scale software engineering. Her experience designing APIs, developing data pipelines, and maintaining production systems has given her the technical discipline needed to work in one of today’s fastest-moving areas of technology.
“That’s the reality of working in agentic AI,” she says. “The technology evolves incredibly fast, so you have to be comfortable building solutions even when there isn’t a playbook yet.”
Throughout each project, she applies the same engineering principles that have guided her career, building systems that are scalable, dependable, and easy to maintain, even as she works on technologies that continue to redefine what AI can accomplish.
