Dads, you can be a great coach for your kids in winning at life with God. You can help them learn and practice key plays and fundamentals so that your sons and daughters are ready at “game-time.” You can also be on the field with your children as a teammate, playing in the game of life right alongside them.
- Some Key Plays & Fundamentals to Practice
- Pray with your children
- Attend church as a family regularly
- Read the Bible regularly
Here are two great apps you can use for devotionals to do on your own or with your children (You Version Bible App, CTFaith App)
Remember this: God is with you both and wants you to experience a great life. He is the head coach for both of you and he wants you to experience an abundant life.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I [Jesus] came that they may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10 ESV)
You can teach your children plays for life through the Bible. You can coach your children through “locker room meetings” by talking with them about things that are meaningful to them. Ask them what they are struggling with then listen to them and pray with them. Encourage them to come to you and to also pray to God about the challenges in their life. These are some ways you can lead them as their spiritual coach and dad.
A great way to remember the family team concept in our faith journey is with the acronym T.E.A.M.

Together, you and your family can practice plays and be coached by God through the game of life. If you lead your kids and come alongside them as a player-coach, you will experience abundantly more than you ever would without God!
