Moving day with children can be….how shall I say it?
A life changing experience, a stressful challenge, and an adventure: all at the same time.
A number of years ago, my wife and I moved from one home to another, simply across town. We did it all ourselves, as we were trying to save money and time.  The home we were building was not quite ready yet, but we needed to move out of the home we were living in, as it had been sold. At the time, our three children were all under the age of 6, with two of them in diapers. My wife and I took turns, packing cars, driving to the new and unfinished home, and unpacking, placing our many belongings, furniture, etc, in a room in the new house.
If I were to do it all over again, I would put much more planning and thought into it, as well as consider getting help from a professional moving company!

Now, it may just be time to move again, this time across the country. It is a process that my wife and I are taking a great deal of time to discuss, to consider, and to perhaps plan.  Yet, before we get too far ahead of ourselves, it is a decision that we need to sit down and discuss with our children, as we involve them, as well. After all, their lives will certainly be impacted, also.
Perhaps, the first thing we need to do before getting ready to move is to, as my wife calls it, de-clutter. Like so many families, over the years we seem to have acquired so many things. With six children of our own, our home looks like a toy store, clothing shop, grocery store, and thrift shop, all at the same time. Certainly, we cannot take it all with us; it is time to get rid of some old clothes, old toys, etc.
As we may be moving to another part of the country, many aspects of our lives are sure to change. It will be important for my wife and I to do some research into the part of the country we are considering moving to.  After all, we will need to look at new schools, new doctors, new banks, new church, etc.

To be sure, it will be very important for us to plan before we move. A good checklist will be important, not only as we get ready to move, but also for our future home, and for our own peace of mind, or as my wife might put it, our own sanity! Finding a good moving company, packing, change of address, utilities; there is certainly a great deal to do before one simply exchanges one house key for another.
Also, when it comes to choosing the right moving company there are some things you should keep in mind as well. Make sure the company you want to hire has good credentials and resources that will come in handy once you make the big move. Take these Austin Movers for example, they have great reviews and resources. A quick google search will show you hundreds of positive reviews from their happy customers. Not to mention the awesome resources that they provide for anyone who is looking to move to Austin, Texas.
Moving can be very exciting, while at the same time, very stressful, for all involved.  With some planning, research, and a good checklist, much of the stress and anxiety will be replaced with pleasure and anticipation.
