There is every type of love in the world. Some of them are loud. Some are fervent. Some are fleeting. But there is this one type of love that stays with you, quiet and unmovable, a mother’s love.
She might not tell you all the time. She might not tweet about it. But you sense it. In the quiet, in the little moments, in the fact that she remembers even the things you yourself forget. A mother’s love doesn’t have to show itself off it just is, fierce and unyielding like the ground under your feet.
The Strength That Doesn’t Show Off
As a child, I never truly understood what my mother was doing for me. She didn’t run around telling us how exhausted she was. She didn’t complain about all that she sacrificed. She just went through the day , ensuring we had everything, even when she had nothing left for herself.
I noticed strength in her hands , preparing meals with sore wrists. I noticed strength in her eyes , concealing her fears behind gentle smiles. She woke up first and went to bed last. She didn’t sleep until the rest of them had what they needed.
And all of that? That was love , not in words, but in deed.
She Carried What I Didn’t Even Know I Dropped
There were days when I self-destructed over school, over friends, over heartbreak, over failure. I would come home, sometimes silent, sometimes furious, sometimes just numb.
She never pushed me to talk.
She just sat next to me, quietly put a cup of tea in front of me, or gently asked if I’d had something to eat. Her love wasn’t about making me talk it was about making me feel safe enough to come to her when I was ready.
She bore my moods, my silence, my storms, and she never made me feel guilty for being heavy.
Love That Doesn’t Have to Be Loud
We tend to confuse love with big gestures flowers, presents, and sweet words. But the most sincere form of love is the one that appears every day, particularly when it’s difficult.
That’s the love I witnessed in my mother.
She recalled the tiniest things how I preferred my toast, which colors I avoided, which songs reduced me to tears. And even when I repelled her, when I believed I didn’t need her , she remained. Quietly. Constantly.
Her love wasn’t boisterous. But it was ever-present.
Now I Understand What I Didn’t Back Then
As a kid, I used to think love was something that needed to be proven. I searched for compliments, words, and affirmations. But now, growing older, I recognize the things she did were love in its purest form.
The nights she spent lying awake when I had a fever.
She silently replaced my old shoes without uttering a word.
The times she wept by herself so I would not notice her concern.
That was love, not to impress, not to brag, but because I was more important to her than anything else in the universe.
Her Love Still Leads Me, Even When She Is Not Around
Even now, when she’s not around, I can feel her in everything.
When I double-check if I have locked the door that’s her voice in my head.
When I pack snacks in my backpack “just in case” that’s her habit carried on.
When I remind myself not to give up too quickly that’s her strength running through my veins.
She defined the way I love other people. She molded the way I care, forgive, and behave. Without loud lessons. Without lectures. Just by being.
She’s the Reason I Know What Real Love Feels Like
Real love doesn’t require attention. It doesn’t yell to be noticed. It just shows up — on good days, on bad days, on all the days in between.
My mother gave me that love love-the kind that wraps around your bones and holds you up when you feel like falling. The kind that forgives, and forgives, and forgives. The kind that shields without controlling. The kind that stays even when it hurts.
I’ve known all sorts of love in this life. But none of them are like hers.
Final Words: Love That Never Leaves
A mother’s love doesn’t come with applause or awards. It’s not often loud. But it is the greatest, the deepest, the most enduring love you will ever receive.
If your mother is still here, don’t wait to tell her what she means to you. Not for a birthday. Not for Mother’s Day. Tell her now. Thank her for the quiet sacrifices. For the warmth. For the strength she carried silently, daily, without ever asking for anything in return.
And if she’s no longer with you, know this:
She never went away. She remains in the way you rise up after a fall. In the empathy you have for others. In the way you love without needing to be seen.
Because that’s how she loved you.
And that love?
That never perishes.
