You can’t have things both ways.
It’s just not possible.
You can’t get drunk all the time and be healthy. You can’t stay up all night and be well rested the next day.
You can’t go around being a giant twat waffle and expect people to like you.
You can’t NOT have a job and expect a paycheck at the end of the week. You can’t spend all of your money and put some in the bank.
It comes down to choices.
What do you really want?
Do you want to go out and date and frolic with as many random people as possible, or do you want to build a relationship with someone?
Are you going to eat pizza and nachos every day, or do you want to get in the best shape of your life?
Yeah, that last one hurt.
Pizza that doesn’t make people fat is on my list of wishes second only to cigarettes are good for you.
Because I loved cigarettes!
I just didn’t love them more than my girlfriend at the time who begged me to quit. Nope, I loved her way more. So, the smokes had to go. And it was difficult. And it was sad like losing your best friend.
But I made the choice and I stuck to it. I never once snuck a cigarette. Because that would’ve felt like cheating on her. The thought of that just broke my heart.
So, all one has to do is decide what you want more. Don’t fret over what you’re losing or giving up. Think about what you’re gaining.
And you’re not only gaining something, but you’re making an effort to consciously mold your life into a certain shape.
Celebrate the choice!
Really dig it.
So, nope. I couldn’t keep smoking and keep my girlfriend too.
Because, like I said, you can’t have things both ways.
