I’m a dad of one son, Joaquim (15) and daughter, Lara (13) and husband to Anne for 20 years. I’m also an Information Technology entrepreneur and operate an Internet Service Provider company. I studied engineering and theology at the university.
I love to read, travel and architecture. I’m also a big futebol fan, and my favorite Brazilian team is Palmeiras. In America, you call it soccer.

In the looking of a child, we discover the wealth of parenting! – Unknown
What I do well as a dad.
My job requires that I travel a lot. I do a good job managing my time with the kids and also make sure they both receive equal alone time with me. I use the alone time with them to learn more about who they are as a person; and also support, encourage and give them guidance to fulfill their dreams.
What I learned from another dad.
To be a good observer of my children and accept the fact that each child is unique and also different in the way they learn, mature and accomplish their successes.
Lesson learned from my child.
Not to be so hard on myself. I’m human and will make mistakes along the way in my effort to be a good dad. What is important is to learn and grow from my mistakes.
Successful fatherhood moment.
When my son, Joaquim, and I traveled together for a weekend to watch a soccer match at Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janiero. Brazil played Spain and won 3-0. Joaquim and I also spent time riding bikes around Rio.
Dad I admire.
My father in law, Henk. I never heard his three daughters say anything bad about him. Henk was a hardworking and committed family man. I could tell by the look in his eyes how much he loved his daughters and how interested he was in their happiness.
Even today my wife and my brother and sisters in law always remember him as a good father doing his best. Henk is also the father of Hogan Hilling, the co-author of this book.
