Early in 2020, Good Men Media, Inc. expanded its publishing reach by syndicating its Good Men Project (“GMP”) content to Medium.com. As the new account’s followers grew, GMP’s Executive Team explored how we could help more writers to expand their reach while we continued to promote the mission of The Good Men Project. Casey Botticello is a recognized Medium authority and long-time Medium blogger. In a 2019 story published on Medium, Botticello says:
Publications give you the chance to highlight other article’s [sic] that you discover from other writers. It’s also a good way to find writers who share common interests and may be interested in collaboration.
Always interested in connecting with writers who are passionate about the topics the GMP community cares about, Good Men Media CEO & Publisher of GMP, Lisa Hickey, determined we could achieve both of our goals by curating new publications on Medium.
What is a “Medium publication”?
Medium publications are very much the same as an online magazine, with an editorial team of the publication owner’s choosing. That same editorial team is then responsible for determining who is added as a contributor to the publication, and what content they add to it. In its Help section, Medium describes their “publications” as follows:
Medium publications are shared spaces for stories written around a common theme or topic, usually by multiple authors.
“Hello, Love” was our first Medium publication, covering Sex, Love, and Relationships, our most popular category on GoodMenProject.com. The team quickly followed up by creating “Change Becomes You” to feature another widely-read category, Advice & Confessions. Soon after, we curated “A Parent Is Born” to cover Dads & Families, “Equality Includes You” for both Social Justice and Ethics, and “Greener Together” as an extension of our Environment category.
The Good Men Project’s expansion into these five Medium publications has, so far, helped more than 650 Medium writers of more than 2,000 articles or “stories” to expand their reach, both on Medium and via GoodMenProject.com. At the same time, syndicating those writers on GMP has brought our regular readers content they might not have found on Medium.

A Collaboration Between Two Agents for Change

In November 2020, Good Men Media and Connection Victory Publishing Company–two agents for change–began a collaborative project: a Medium account (@2ChangeAgents) and three new publications on Medium.
The idea was to create publications that would cover topics not directly covered by the five publications we started earlier this year. Click to read more about each:
- Shelter Me: A refuge for mind, body, and spirit, covers all aspects of health and wellness including mental health and chronic pain.
- Co-Existence: Social Justice, Ethics, and Environmental Justice, a publication about justice and equity for all members of the human race and our home planet
- Modern Identities: Celebrating our relationships with self and others. The focus here is how we define ourselves in different contexts, and understanding the labels society uses and why.
We welcome contributors to our three new publications. We will consider submissions of well-written content on the subjects mentioned above. We accept drafts and already-published stories, but we prefer drafts not previously published. To be accepted, your submission:
- Must meet our Editorial Guidelines;
- Must not require more than minor editing — unless you are a member of our Writing Community (learn more here);
- Must be relevant to the topics mentioned above.
In our first three weeks, we’ve had more than 30K readers of our Agents of Change account and the publications those stories are in. Join us! Include a link to your Medium account and the link to a draft you’d like us to consider.
