In many states, the age of consent is 15 or 16– so the definition is wrong. I really think making victimhood ubiquitous is a bad sign of the times, and represents moral entrepreneurism as much as anything. We feel like we can control anything (especially anything economic) so we reach down and personalize our victimhood and trauma.

My grandmother is Hungarian and lived there at the end of WWII, when the Russians came in and raped -everything.- She told me about it, not caring whether I was too young, because she didn’t want me to be ignorant the way she had been raised. But there is one part of her story that I’m beginning to question: “The Russians had female soldiers.
