If I had three lives, I’d marry you in two. Not because I don’t love you enough to marry you in all three, but because one of those lives needs to be my own — fully, wholly, unapologetically. A life where I find myself, where I wander without purpose, and where I fall in love with everything the world has to offer before I understand what it means to truly love someone like you.
In the first life, I’d run wild. I’d travel to places that don’t know my name and feel the thrill of being unanchored. I’d chase sunsets without worrying about anything but the moment. Maybe I’d sit in coffee shops in Paris, write poetry about strangers, and dream of a love I’ve never known yet. But even in those moments, I’d still somehow find you. Like a song playing softly in the background, your presence would linger even when you’re not there.
By the second life, I’d be ready. I’d know what it means to live on my own terms, and I’d finally understand that love isn’t meant to cage me but to set me free. This is the life where I’d find you, or maybe you’d find me. And this this one, I’d marry you without hesitation. I’d know you laughter by heart, and your voice would be the only thing that could pull me back when I get lost in my own head. In this life, we’d build something beautiful — quiet mornings, messy kitchens, and arguments over nothing that make us laugh in the end. We’d be partners, soulmate, two people who finally found their place in the world through each other.
But if there were a third life, I’d want to marry you all over again. Because knowing what I know now, living without you would never be enough. I’d look for you, even if it meant starting from the beginning again. And maybe in that life, I’d love you even harder, deeper, and more fiercely than before. But I’d still need one life to be my own, so I’d have more to give when I find you in the next.
So yes, if I had three lives, I’d marry you in two. Because in one of them, I need to become the person who’s worthy of loving you the way you deserve. And in the other two I’d be yours — always.
