Since then, Trump & Co. have upped the wartime rhetoric aimed at Tehran, and the President recently tweeted an all-caps warning to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. Earlier this week, the U.S. raised tensions further by reinstating sanctions against Iran, which could do major damage to the country’s economy. “These are the most biting sanctions ever imposed, and in November they ratchet up to yet another level,” Trump said on Twitter. “Anyone doing business with Iran will NOT be doing business with the United States. I am asking for WORLD PEACE, nothing less!” Issuing crippling sanctions after withdrawing from a multilateral deal and threatening war over Twitter hardly screams “WORLD PEACE.” Neither does forcing European allies to join in. According to Rouhani, China and Russia have pledged not to observe the sanctions, which might make the Trump move more problematic. Over the past seven days, “Iran Sanctions” has just a 20 percent positive score on Social. –Alex Shultz
