In Michele Bachmann’s America, the LGBTQ community is a mafia.

As we get deeper into primary season, and start to reach that critical point where everyone in America is sick of hearing about the midterm elections, be comforted by the fact that one of the worst members of Congress in history, Minnesota Congresswoman and noted racist Michele Bachmann, will be retiring. Some speculate that this is to focus on her snowball’s chance in hell of winning the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, but it’s probably more likely because she’s under investigation by the FBI for breaking campaign laws during her 2012 presidential run. Whatever the reason, this politician with a such a storied, sleazy history is leaving us with at least one parting gift in her last year as a legislator:
“”I think the thing that is getting a little tiresome, the gay community, they have so bullied the American people, and they’ve so intimidated politicians. The politicians fear them, so that they think they get to dictate the agenda everywhere.” – 3/10/14, at CPAC

Yes, Michelle Bachmann is convinced that the “gay community” is “bullying American people” and “intimidating politicians”. Yes, the same LGBTQ community that boasts at many as seven (!) members of the House of Representatives and one Senator. Never mind the fact that the House of Representatives authorized $3 million taxpayer dollars to be spent in order to keep DOMA the law of the land. Never mind the fact that Republicans and social conservatives have flipped the narrative so that gay marriage is now a violation of “religious freedom”, and Never mind the religious freedom of the at least twenty-six churches that allow gay marriage, that have been impeded by repeated legislative shutdowns of gay marriage. Never mind the repeated denials in both federal and state governments of LGBTQ workplace protections – we have got to be wary of the gay bullies.
Like many other people, it’s hard for me to believe that politicians are sincere in their beliefs. Not Michele Bachmann. I am 100% convinced that she genuinely believes that the gay community is strong-arming its way into, you know, acceptance. The nerve of some people.

Michelle Bachman is the Republican version of Sheila Jackson Lee.
Two words that explain conservatives; “psychological projection”. They claim “liberals make no sense” and “the gay agenda is ruling the world”. Meanwhile… that $5 put in the church basket….
Bachmann is practicing one of the central defensive strategies of her political movement. Whatever you do or are? Accuse your victims of that behavior. Its a way of inoculating herself against her own actions and positions.
Let’s look at the “bullying” argument on its face. Let’s take it seriously for the moment. How would that actually work? How would a gay community bully politicians? Unless she’s saying that there are lots of voters willing to vote for gay rights and willing to vote against a homophobe. That would be an awkward thing for a conservative to admit. The gay agenda is such a big bully because it has so many votes behind it – she’s admitting that? Maybe she’s saying that the gay community has a lot of money to throw around, so that’s why it’s… Read more »
