On, November 8th, I went to bed after a 6-hour drive, and started watching the election results on Huffington Post. I went to sleep, and woke up in a nightmare. I woke up in a world now relegating women, blacks, minorities, gays, lesbians, trans-people to the social status of second-class citizens. I woke up to a world that looked at the hateful things being done to people around the country and gave an enthusiastic thumbs up.
I woke up to a world filled with an electorate that has been fleeced of hard earned money on a consistent basis, the twist being that this same electorate also voted someone into office that will ensure that things will only get worse for them.
I woke up in a world where the idea that we should all be civil to each other, has been gleefully shot in the face at point blank range by smiling idiots backing a callow con artist.
I woke up in a world that had voted in part due to the delusion that guns were going to be taken, insurance premiums were going to skyrocket, a world wherer civil rights were being taken, that religion is under attack, and a way of life is under siege. Now, that delusional winter of discontent has been made glorious summer by this, “our” president-elect.
To those who genuinely thought this would happen with another Democratic administration, you haven’t seen anything yet. You are so incredibly fucked, you just haven’t realized it yet.
So, now we have the first President of the United States with no government experience, no prior military service, has bankrupted four different companies, is racist, xenophobic, misogynistic and who gets baited into retaliation as easily as putting a box of donuts in front of a dieter. I don’t often indulge in confusion, but…
What. The. Hell…
Well, first of all, I don’t recognize that Donald Trump won. The popular vote has Hillary at 59,236.903 votes and Trump with 59,085,787 votes. To quote George Takei, “The people elected Hillary, the system elected Trump.” This isn’t sour grapes, this is simply reason.
Second, I know this is entirely screwed up, but to me, this is the first step to the abyss. Half of the country has willingly neglected to take into account the proof refuting the lies and bullshit of this election, half of the country has succumbed to one massive nationwide delusion.
We now have a presidential administration that is aligned ideologically with Russia. We now have a horrible businessman who has bankrupted companies, defrauded creditors and discriminated in business dealings, in charge of our national economy. We now have a reactionary moron in charge of our nuclear arsenal and our armed forces. The bully pulpit is now in control.
This is a shit-show of epic proportions and if any of you think this is going to end well, you haven’t been paying attention. With the denial of climate change, the de facto change in civil rights (take a look at the hate crime the DAY AFTER), and a megalomaniacal demagogue’s finger on the trigger come January, this could spell the end of this cute little experiment in Democracy.
Someone ended up saying (I believe it was Ricky Gervais) that we should be kind to those who voted him into office, because these are the people who will be hurt the most by Trump’s destructive policies. I can’t be the bigger man and allow this to go by unchallenged. I can’t respect people who say, with their vote, that my daughter is a possession. I can’t respect people who have said, with their vote, that gay people should have to live in fear. I can’t respect people who have said, with their vote, that violence and hatred is the way to solve their problems.
I have always believed that this species is determined to self-destruct and kill itself. I hope I’m wrong about this last point, but it appears to me, that the only thing that was made clear when I awoke to the nightmare of a post-Obama United States, is that those who voted for Trump have finally signed the death certificate for humanity.
Call it over-reaction if you like. But, you thought things in this country were bad during THIS administration? Wait until the administration with hate on the brain finally holds the reins of power.
You haven’t seen anything yet.
Drink it up right-wing America, your life is about to get mighty complicated, and you only have yourself to blame.
Reality is you’re crashing the plane we all travel in. The only thing you’re not realizing, is that I’ll be laughing the entire way down and none of you will get the joke until you reach the ground.
Cheers, America.

I get that not everyone who voted for Donald Trump is a racist or a sexist or whatever. I get this. However, voting for Donald Trump essentially says that you’re fine with those things, or at least they’re not a big deal. My experiences in a very red state are remarkably dissimilar to the rest of those on the left. Here, WE are the ones who have to remain silent, especially in a crowd. Just last week, a friend of mine ended up saying something to the effect of Trump not having his vote. As a result, people he used… Read more »
“Every single voter of his that I know have face to face told me that Donald Trump never lied, even when confronted with the evidence.” Well, I certainly have never said such. But, the same argument goes for Hillary Clinton supporters. You had a FBI Director that clearly stated HRC DID in fact have classified emails on her unprotected email server which she denied. He concluded that her “mishandling” of these emails did not rise to level of deserving prosecution. Here on GMP yousaw many, if not most, of her supporters denying the FBI even said such! So, say what… Read more »

People really need to hear this and listen to what he says.
I’ve seen this amazing video. While I don’t agree with all the points he makes, I get it.
In USA, the Electoral College is the body that elects the president and vice president of the United States every four years. US-citizens are not voting for the president directly. Trump is the winner by a not so narrow margin, the final result might be around 232 for Clinton and 306 for Trump. The US election process is complicated, it is not only about the number of votes from US-citizens, it depends from which regions these votes are coming from to find a majority within the Electoral College. I have to admit to change this election procedure among 50 federal… Read more »
Also. The electoral college was put in place exactly for this reason of mob rule. The highly populated coasts are also heavily one party or the other. They can in a small area overrule everyone else, especially in their own state. The founders understood this. Think of it like this. Chicago is a huge Democrat city. It absorbs all of IL funds to feed it. Outstate IL gets little in return. Yet the mass of rural IL pays a huge share of their revenue to just Chicago. Chicago basically dictates what happens to all the rest of the illini. That’s… Read more »
May I ask what flavor Cool Aid you drank?
You supported a man who regularly degraded women, minorities, Jewish people, muslims, homosexuals, people with disabilites, our own President to praise Putin of all people, said he knew more about military matters then our own generals and now has the possibility to rip families apart through immigration and deny women rights to their own bodies. You don’t get a free pass in that. You don’t get to hide from it. People are angry and they are scared because our country has once again reverted back to the white male privilege that is Donald trump. Donald trump…the billioniare who never let… Read more »
They’re scared because of people like you and many here at GMP have told them to be scared. Don’t you get it? Americans woke and said enough of this crap already. Why would you be scared when women who voted for Trump are not scared? .Minorities who voted for Trump are not scared. NONE of the gays I know are scared. NONE of the minorities I know are scared INCLUDING the ones that didn’t vote for him. “I was given $3,500 to protest Donald Trump’s rally in Fountain Hills,” said 37-year-old Paul Horner. “I answered a Craigslist ad about a… Read more »
I see that my reply didn’t make it through … oh well.
And the left only have themselves to blame for it. This guy explains it all and he dead on in his analysis. The left really needs to watch this and learn, because they really are part of the problem. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8gyNRqIp5U
I shared the same video clip with a response to another article here …
I’m not hiding from a damn thing Erin. I’ve had enough of the bullying from the left as I can stand. I supported trump primarily because I cannot stand the lying, hypocrisy and manipulation of the left. I would have happily voted another person who said the same things against the left, but was a lot less crass and vulgar. So no. Think what you want. I actually honor that as much as the left dishonors my thoughts. The left is as evil as you claim the right. You just say it nicer.
[Erin: You supported a man who regularly degraded women, minorities, Jewish people, muslims, homosexuals, people with disabilites, our own President to praise Putin …] You have to see both sides of the story: I see no reason why I should be supportive to ILLEGAL immigration, despite I am a LEGAL immigrant myself. It is strange to me to read that you – a Western woman – are protective to a religion which openly demands a medieval legal system which allows 4 wives, to marry very young girls and calls for the death in case of apostasy. About minorities – the… Read more »
