If you can own the burden of building your dream then you deserve the blessings that come with it materializing.

Last week I kicked off my speaking tour, that’ll occupy my time from now until at least spring.
I’m excited about it for many reasons, but mostly because of the many amazing lessons I’ll learn from every location I visit.
En route to my most recent appearance, I began feeling a little weird, but I thought nothing of it; I just shook it off and took my seat.
As the plane took off, I heard the words: “you don’t deserve this.”
The voices of distraction fell on deaf ears, though I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that my confidence was shaken just a bit.
For a brief moment, my mind began to reverse its thinking, causing me to question whether the bigger platforms, audiences, and paychecks would be wasted on a subpar talent like I.
“Why Me?” “What makes me great?” “Why am I fooling myself into thinking that I can handle this load?” “And what makes me think that my words would have any impact?” These were just a few of the questions I asked myself before I reaffirmed my being.
In that moment I thought about my first big speech from roughly 3 years ago when a young lady gave me her suicide letter and told me that she didn’t need to hold onto it any more, citing a reason to live.
I thought about the young men and women that I mentor in Chicago and how they always tell me my work has changed the way they live and think.
I thought about all of the hard work, sleepless nights, trials and tribulations I’ve had to overcome. It was through these reflections that I was reminded that not only do I deserve this, I can do this!
As humans, we sometimes have moments of doubt when things are going well because we aren’t used to such productivity and visibility.
Our mind will show every inadequacy about ourselves to get us to say we aren’t worthy of our dreams. But I offer you this: If you can own the burden of building your dream, then you deserve the blessings that come with it materializing.
Don’t give in to the notion that you are out of place in a vision that God gave you, because it was given it to you for a reason. If elevation is happening in your life, embrace it.
There’s an entire world out there that needs what you have and only you can give it. You are a royalty; you are chosen and you deserve to be favored and blessed.
