Steve Nash and Jason Kidd both made big moves this week. What’s going on in the NBA?
Steve Nash will be joining Kobe Bryant in Los Angeles, and Jason Kidd will be heading to New York. Coast to coast, baby:
(From ESPN) In an unforeseen twist that could thrust the Los Angeles Lakers straight back into title contention, two-time NBA MVP Steve Nash has
successfully negotiated a sign-and-trade deal from the Phoenix Suns to the Lakers that will team him up with Kobe Bryant.
(From ESPN) In an unforeseen reversal, Jason Kidd has decided to leave the Dallas Mavericks to join the New York Knicks.
“I think I can help,” Kidd told ESPN The Magazine’s Ric Bucher, adding that he felt the Knicks have more “pieces to work with.”
So, I guess everybody has just decided that the only way to win a championship now is to Lebron your way to whatever team seems like it has the most superstars. Either that, or these guys would just rather live in LA and NY rather than Phoenix and Dallas (totally understandable).
Personally, I think LA will continue to struggle, as all the players are getting older, and Nash (38) certainly doesn’t help. He also isn’t a terrific defensive player.
New York needs chemistry more than anything else. If Jason Kidd can get Amare and Carmelo to play together, then they could be a real contender.
What do you think?

Really Josh? The Knicks are not a contender with Jason Kidd. He is 38 years old. The Knicks were barely a .500 team last year.
I am interested in this Nash/Lakers situation tho. I still think OKC and the Spurs are better teams in the West.
Miami Heat will repeat (says me an 8 year Heat fan. no bandwagons in my town).
If the Knicks do the right thing and re-sign JLin, they can be very dangerous, maybe not a championship contender, but right there in the mix. Having JKidd takes the pressure off JLin to come in right away and be the savior point guard the Knicks need. In fact, I wouldn’t have a problem with them playing in the backcourt together.
Even with Ray Allen the Heat won’t win a title unless Derrick Rose gets injured two years in a row. Miami’s not even the best team in the east.
