This coming year I want to add another defining word to my repertoire; consistent. I want to be able to follow through with my goals that I have set and actually accomplish them. I want to do more than just dream.
Ever since I was a child, I have been a quitter. I discovered gymnastics, karate and the piano when I was a kid. I quit them all before I truly got a chance to experience them. One double jump off the balance beam and I cried to my daddy that my gymnastic dream was over. The negative voice in my head whispered that my fingers were “too fat” to play the piano well enough so that was done too. Karate soon after that.
With all that being said, I don’t want to be defined as a quitter in my adult life. I am fully embracing the challenge of being consistent. If you do decide to quit something, replace it with something else so that you’re still enriching your life. I welcome the use of boundaries, having to honor my commitment. Most of all it is a promise to myself. I am showing up for myself and for my life in a huge way. You are what you repeatedly do. You get to choose how you will show up for your life daily. I will choose progress over perfection. To everyone who is struggling to find your word for the year, just look for areas that you want to grow in. Your word will appear.
