We’ve all been told to follow your inner compass when we get stuck in life, love, relationships and more… If you’re like me, and I hope I am not alone here; there’s another voice that we pay too much darn attention to…
The inner critic.
This is the voice that may be on an endless loop inside your head telling you that you’re not enough, that you aren’t strong, that you can’t do anything at all. Often times this voice is like a gliding feather in the wind: smooth and soft. (That is when you may be having a good day.) On those not so good days, this voice is the storm inside your head ready to shipwreck everything you have going for you.
I am inviting to get off the hamster wheel right now and imagine: If you were to go to bed tonight and wake up and have this inner critic suddenly gone from your neural pathway to never appear again… I ask you: What will you be able to accomplish?
One of the ways that I’ve been able to silence this voice inside my head is to get very still. You read that right: mindfulness.
Taking time out of your day to breathe and recenter is one of the most powerful things that you can do for yourself when you’re in self sabotage mode:(I like to call when I’m like that: getting in my own way.) I just know I have greatness waiting for me when I just kick the crap out of all my negative self talk and show up for my day. Start the journey today: Mind your thoughts; take back your power, own your life. A negative thought is at it’s weakest at its conception so it is best to get still the moment you start to feel the hamster wheel turning.
Remember that you’re awesome and if you are drowning in negativity, find that one person who believes in you and talk to them. Be kinder to yourself, monitor your thought life and leave people better than when you found them.
