Brother,
You’re feeling burned out, overwhelmed, and like the journey you’re on has just sort of “happened” without the intentionality or purpose you envisioned for your life.
You’ve found “success” but sacrificed everything that truly matters on the altar of your career, your stress, your health, your family, and your excuses.
Every day, men like you reach out to me to begin the journey of (re)discovering the power that’s gone missing.
It’s a vulnerable, gut-wrenching, emotional journey of evolution and that first step of ownership is always the hardest.
We are “fixers,” and recognizing that we’ve reached an endpass in ourselves is no easy confession.
I can promise you this:
There is hope on the other side of your perceived hopelessness.
There is joy where it eludes you.
Your power isn’t gone, simply misplaced.
Your masculinity isn’t found in facial hair, four-letter words, or your ability to convince everyone of your “alpha”ness.
The REAL power is found in the ownership of where you are and in the openness of you answering the question:
“What needs to die inside of me to become the man I said I’d be?”
It’s going to be a hard journey of ownership, confrontation, and transformation…. one we are all called to as men: going “into the woods,” so to speak…
And as men, we are called to certain tenants:
We are to be strong: emotionally, physically, and in character.
We are to be able: We are the protectors of our families and our communities. We are to care for those who cannot care for themselves. We stand for those who cannot stand for themselves. This means you must be at the top of your game; a sharpened axe.
We are to be confident: Men know who they are, what they stand for, and most importantly….what they will not stand for. We are the defenders of what is good and right.
We are to be of unshakeable faith: when we have the certainty that what we are created for is bigger than us, it gives us a purpose and resiliency to overcome any obstacle.
We are to be resilient: you will lose. You will get knocked down. You must learn to fight and to get up relentlessly. You will eventually win. We are not called to live and react by emotion, but rather by intuition, intellect, and decisiveness.
We are to be resourceful: you work with what you have and you create more. No one was led well by a man who constantly complained of lack. You have everything you need. Make use of it, make more of it, and build a legacy of leading, service, and abundance.
You are called to be virtuous: be a man of your word. Do what you say you’ll do. Keep integrity at the forefront of your life, relationships, and decisions
You are called to be passionate: in your relationships, in your work, in this life.
It’s time for you to stop playing nice. It’s time for you to stop being a “yes” man. It’s time for you to push past the pain of your past and experiences and step into the man you have always been called to be.
It’s time to push past your weaknesses, your vices, your apathy, your excuses, your laziness and your need to be a victim…
It’s time to man up.
For yourself.
For your family.
For your community.
For your country.
It’s time to turn that weakness into a warrior.
Take your power back.
