Have you heard of World Vasectomy Day?
It’s hard to imagine feeling particularly heroic with your pants down on a procedure table – literally putting your balls on the line.
But that’s exactly what World Vasectomy Day is all about.
“World Vasectomy Day celebrates responsible men for making the heroic and loving choice to sacrifice their fertility. These men step forward and take responsibility for family planning out of love for their wives and care for their children. It’s the definition of manly”, explains co-founder Jonathan Stack.
It’s the largest male-oriented family planning movement, and it’s taking the world by storm. Despite being half the partnership, men only contribute to a fifth of the contraceptives used around the world. They have fewer options than women, with only condoms, withdrawal and vasectomies in their ‘toolbox’. But looking at permanent options, vasectomies and tubal ligation, the female equivalent is sought more than twice as often in the US, despite being twenty times riskier, being four times more expensive, having four times the recovery period and having a higher failure rate. Hmm.
World Vasectomy Day is all about getting the right information out there and making it easier for men to step up and grab life by the balls.
Using the no-scalpel vasectomy technique, available all over the US, a vasectomy can be done in about 15 minutes with the client walking himself out the door stitch-free and resuming normal activity in about 48 hours. Some places even offer a no-needle vasectomy, bypassing the need for a numbing injection by spraying anesthetic through the skin.
World Vasectomy Day is taking this technique global – working with providers in over 50 countries for the past four years to make this an option for any man who’s ready to snip – I mean step up. It uses creative videos and photos to raise awareness of vasectomies, dispel myths and highlight where anyone can get a no-scalpel vasectomy, using their database.
“I had my vasectomy two years ago and it was an incredibly easy process. The best feeling, though, was seeing the relief and appreciation on my wife’s face. Husbands need to step up. I’m glad I did,” said Jason Beedlow, a client in Florida.
World Vasectomy Day is set for November 17th this year, so mark your calendars, because family planning is getting manly! Check out their website if you think it might be a good option for you.

These guys know all about it by the way, but have a very very minimal risk statement using lower numbers to cover themselves on their website. Life long pain for people of the 3rd world?
Hi, please read the following guidelines from the British Association of Urology surgeons before committing to a vasectomy and fully understand the potential chronic pain risks stated :
https://www.baus.org.uk/_userfiles/pages/files/Patients/Leaflets/Vasectomy.pdf
From that source : “Troublesome chronic testicular pain is reported in up to 15% of
patients and can be severe enough to affect day-to-day activities in
up to 5%”
15% = 1 in 7
5% = 1 in 20
