One evening when my daughter Caroline was a baby, we were sitting on the couch together, just the two of us. I was making faces and poking her stomach, like dads do, when she suddenly puked all over me. She got this stunned look on her face, like even she was grossed out. And then she laughed. In that moment, I loved her as much as I ever had. Not so much because she was beautiful or because she was the perfect beginning to my adulthood. I loved her so much because she was right. It actually was pretty funny.
