We’ve been doing quite a bit of writing about privilege, in all areas, from race to gender to sports.
We’re also fans of the use of satire as a tool to shine a light on this. Because there is nothing better than well executed satire to illustrate things that people otherwise won’t admit to or see. Good satire is almost irrefutable.
This video is one of those. As the comedy website channel, Funny or Die, explained, “[a]fter a video of a woman experiencing over 100 instances of street harassment during a 10 hour period walking the streets of New York City went viral, Funny Or Die News decided to conduct an experiment to see what happens to a white man walking the streets of NYC.”
So, according to Funny or Die, what is it like to walk around New York City for several hours as a young white man? Check it out above.
I will tell you that I got a job offer, 2 small business loans, 4 high fives, and a free coupon to Dunkin Donuts just on my cross-town walk to work today.
And I didn’t get cat-called once.
