Sheffield

Stephen Sheffield is a world-renowned photographer and mixed media artist. If you walk through a bookstore, an office building or a restaurant in Boston or New York, the chances are you will see his work. Often collages of old pictures. Or black and whites of Mad Men-era guys stretching mightily towards 2012.

I met Steve six years ago now when our wives and sons all started playing together. We’ve surfed together and played with our boys together for hours on end. And we’ve also collaborated professionally. Steve’s images were in the original GMP book. His suited man in the waves is the icon on our Facebook page.

I recently visited Steve at his most recent show to talk about the things we both care most about.

    Tom,

This provided a much needed connection to an awesome subject/person. For me, it was as if I’ve met some whom I otherwise would not…an interview I’d normally never hear.

I recognized one photo in the collection (I think)…The Old Charles Street Jail ? I loved that Sheffield series of the jail.

    He is a great man.
