So, um… our dog hates us now. Like, deep, soul-crushing hate. The kind where you know someone has already written your name in their personal Book of Enemies.
And the worst part? We didn’t even do anything wrong. (At least… that’s what we tell ourselves.)
But Daisy? Oh, she disagrees.
This is a tragic story about love, betrayal, and how our once-sweet, cuddly Daisy has now decided she wants us dead.
Meet Our Dogs — Before the Betrayal.
We have two fur babies. Viva — a dramatic, overly affectionate Husky. And Daisy — a dog whose breed I will not mention because I refuse to fuel stereotypes.
This ain’t about breed. This is about personality. Trauma. And possibly, a full-blown identity crisis.
Viva has been with us since she was a tiny puppy. But Daisy? We adopted her when she was three. And for a whole year, she was the sweetest, most lovable creature on Earth.
Then… we ruined it.
The Vacation That Ended Our Relationship.
Last December, my husband and I decided to do something wild.
We took a vacation.
Yeah, I know. What kind of monsters leave their dogs behind to go sip cocktails on a tropical island? Apparently, us.
It wasn’t our fault! The trip had been long overdue, and it was supposed to be a chance to reset our burnt-out lives.
Now, here’s where things get tricky.
Our kids weren’t around to watch the dogs. So we had to find someone to babysit them.
Enter… The Neighbors.
Now, we weren’t that close to them. Just the usual “Hey, nice weather!” kind of relationship. But they had dogs, and they seemed responsible, so we trusted them with our babies.
We provided everything. Premium food. A list of their favorite treats. Extra cash in case of emergencies.
And then… we left.
The Reunion — AKA, The Moment Daisy Decided We Were Dead to Her.
Two weeks later, we came home, sun-kissed, relaxed, and ready to drown in dog love.
Viva? She LOST IT. Howling, jumping, giving us the biggest welcome-home party of the century.
Daisy?
She stood in the corner.
Watching.
Judging.
Plotting.
I tried to pet her. She stepped back. My husband tried. She growled.
At first, we laughed. “Oh, she’s just being dramatic. Give her a day.”
Sorry: It’s now about three months.
And Daisy still looks at us like we personally burned her childhood home to the ground.
Things Got Worse.
At first, she just ignored us. But then? She started growling at the smallest things. Snapping if we tried to touch her. Side-eyeing us like we stole money from her.
Then… she bit us.
Yes. SHE. BIT. US.
On the same day.
Like some kind of coordinated attack.
That’s when we realized:
Daisy was gone.
The dog that once cuddled on our laps? Gone.
The pup that followed us everywhere? Gone.
Now, we had a stranger living in our house. A furry assassin who wanted us out.
WHAT HAPPENED?!
We went into full-blown detective mode.
- Took her to the vet. Perfect health.
- Hired a professional dog trainer. Didn’t work.
- Tried bribing her with treats. She stared at us like we were peasants.
And then… we noticed something strange.
She still LOVED our neighbors.
Every time she saw them, she turned into an obedient little angel. Wagging her tail, licking their hands, sitting on command.
But us? She acted like we were serial killers.
SO TELL ME, HOW DOES THIS MAKE SENSE?!
At this point, I am 75% convinced our neighbors performed a secret adoption ceremony while we were gone. Or maybe they bewitched her.
Honestly? I wouldn’t be surprised if they secretly fed her enchanted steak and now she thinks she’s their dog.
I mean, is this even scientifically possible?!
The Psychology Behind This Madness.
Apparently, dogs can develop abandonment trauma.
- When their owners leave for long periods, some dogs feel “replaced.”
- They can form new bonds with whoever takes care of them.
- And when their original owners return? They feel betrayed.
So, in Daisy’s mind… we are the villains.
She’s thinking:
“Oh, you LEFT me. You ABANDONED me. But the neighbors? THEY loved me. THEY were there. And now you wanna come back like nothing happened?! OVER MY DEAD BODY.”
Honestly? I get it.
Humans do this too.
- Ever had a friend stop texting back and suddenly you’re like “Oh okay, I guess we’re DONE.”
- Ever been dumped, and suddenly you act like the other person never existed?
- Ever had someone ghost you, and now you don’t even LOOK at their Instagram stories?
Daisy is doing the same thing.
She cut us off.
She blocked us in real life.
And now, we don’t know what to do.
So What Now?
We’re at a crossroads.
We love Daisy. But at this point, we don’t know if she’ll ever love us again.
And the hardest part? Maybe she’s happier without us.
Maybe she belongs with the neighbors now.
Which brings us to the toughest question of all:
Do we keep fighting for her love?
Or do we let her go?
Because let’s be honest — this isn’t just about dogs.
It’s about life.
Sometimes, no matter how much you love someone, they decide to leave.
And no matter how hard you try, you can’t force them to come back.
Maybe the real lesson here is… we have to accept it.
Or, you know, we could just move into the neighbors’ house and live with Daisy forever.
What do y’all think?
- Has your pet ever betrayed you like this?
- Do you think she’ll forgive us?
- Or should we just accept our fate and adopt a new dog (who won’t turn against us)?
Drop your thoughts. Because right now, I’m sitting in my own house… afraid of my own dog.
And possibly… under a neighbor’s curse.
