“Time is the new wealth, and relationships are now the most valuable stock to invest in”.
— Johnny Hughes
Millions of humans have sold their time for paper promises, blinded by the insanity of it all.
No fault of their own, as this has become one of the acceptable norms, perpetuated down through their generations.
Without all the fancy job titles and such, the basis of the system is for a human to show up at a designated location everyday and do whatever they’re told, for a designated number of hours.
Also, to keep them docile and compliant, the humans are periodically threatened with unfavorable consequences, if they don’t follow all the commands given.
So much power, being wield over the humans.
How did this happen?
They were created to be much, much more!
They were designed to create and experience much, much more!
However, it seems they’ve been swindled into selling hours of their life away, in exchange for illusions of security.
Ask any working-class person you know, if they now if honestly feel 100% secure in their current occupation. If you been around for the last 10 years, you probably won’t be surprised at their reply.
Time vs Money
Most of you have heard the cliche, “time is money”. In reality, time is ‘freedom’. If you listen close to the wealth conscious gurus and entrepreneurs of today, you’ll hear two common themes throughout their conversations, ‘buying back your time’ and ‘trading hours for dollars’.
There was a very wealthy man, who had acquired billions of dollars from his many businesses. As he laid there on his death bed with only a few days to live, his faithful assistant asked what he wished to do with all his money. The wealthy man replied, “I wish I could buy more time”.
Ask yourself now, and answer honestly: Would you now prefer more money, or more time?
While you think about how to answer that question, I’ll share my answer:
When I was young, I wanted more money.
Now that I’m older, I want more time.
See, when I young, I didn’t mind working 50–60 hours a week, because I could buy more cars, jewelry, clothes and such. I could impress people at the clubs when I would spring for bottles of champagne.
I didn’t truly appreciate time then. I just wanted time to move fast and get to the next payday.
The Wake-up call
Then, one day it hit me. As I got older and began to look back over my life, I realized that all the time I spent toward working for money, the less I spent with my parents as they got older.
I then began to recall all the time I spent working in front of my computer screen because I wanted to make lots a money to buy things for my family, just to realize that all they wanted and needed most from me was my time.
Everyday of my life, I wish I could get all that time back. Like, when my son just wanted to play and I was “too busy” building a website. Or, when my wife wanted me to watch one of her favorite TV series with her, but I was “too busy” working on and audio mix.
Yes, I made the money, spent it and I can make it again. But the time that was spent, I can never get back.
So now, with the time I have left, I live to make every moment count. Not for making money, but for capturing each precious moment of time I can, with those I love, with friends, family and associates I haven’t reached out to in years.
This mental wake-up call has opened my eyes to a richer, more fulfilling life experience that holds a value that no amount of money could ever match.
You can see it happening all around you now. People are settling for smaller homes, working remote, creating businesses, investing and becoming more frugal.
Why?
Because, they’re seeking lifestyles that require less money, and allow more control, options and freedom with their time.
Time for you to chose.
What’s more important to you:
Time or Money?
