The U.S., because of its size and power, makes moves that ripple throughout the planet. Formerly, some actions and decisions by the U.S. were followed by other countries. Now, many of the actions and decisions are decried by other countries.
Our choices to bomb other countries affect innocent citizens of those countries. Decisions here affect our own citizens, some innocent and some who chose through their vote to create dystopia. New Choices writers and editors have strong opinions about these type choices.
Herbert Dyer, Jr., New Choices editor, who has Bachelors and Masters degrees in political science, with emphasis on African Studies, recently praised Supreme Court Justice Katanji Brown for taking Clarence Thomas to task over birthright citizenship.

He also explains very clearly how the current administration is working diligently to steal the Mid-Term elections. He doesn’t write hyperbole, he tells us exactly the moves being made to keep the next election from being free and legitimate, from voter suppression to the threat of the National Guard and ICE being stationed at polling locations.

Dr. Leo Croft tells you what he believes with his whole chest. He also backs it up with a doctorate in Behavioral Psychology. He brings the receipts. His insights into human nature, including the dysfunctional behavior of our current administration are enlightening and frightening, to those of us who see the evil being enacted every day in our nation’s capital. Click on his link and follow him to read his scathing revelations about politics.
Here, in New Choices, he gets more personal. What he says about critics, and people who surround you but don’t support you, is insightful and inspiring. If you have people in your life who want you to play small, read the good Doctor. He will inspire you to let those people go, so the ones who do support you step up. Here’s how.
Growth doesn’t always mean light — it means learning where to place the shadow. — By Dr. Leo Croft
The Overworked Critic That Doesn’t Understand Passion
I’m the Editor-in-Chief of New Choices. The following piece is about my trip to Cuba in 2023, and the wonderful people I met there. It’s also about my deep concern and worry for their well-being as the current administration has blocked all oil imports to Cuba, leaving my friends hungry and in the dark. It’s unreasonable cruelty with no clear goal in mind, just needless torture.
My Heart Is Breaking for The Cuban People
The people of Cuba don’t deserve this
Michelle Marie Warner is an editor for New Choices. She writes deeply personal stories about her choices and how they affect herself and her daughters. She also writes universally on how our choices affect others. In the following story, she summarizes how the rules we learned in Kindergarten could and should serve us and everyone now. Wouldn’t it be something if even politicians followed these simple, powerful rules?
Do We All Need The TL;DR Version These Days?
I’ve never been good at summaries, but here goes
When New Choices writer and editor
Toni Crowe speaks about careers, work, manufacturers, and more, she has the receipts to back her up.
“For my entire career, I managed manufacturing plants worldwide, including in the USA, France, Italy, and Norway. I also trained in lean manufacturing for months in Japan.” —
When she comments on what our government is doing to jobs and the people who depend on them, she knows what she is talking about.

That is the Republicans’ American dream scenario
Finally, Michael M. Brownstein, our resident poet and accomplished editor, states in poetic fashion if not literal poetry, how one simple pause and act of kindness changed him. His story illustrates what
Michelle Marie Warner’s lessons from Kindergarten story means in real life, in gritty settings.
And learned how small things leave a mark
Read these. Be inspired and uplifted. Go and do good in the world. Make good New Choices.
Writers Herbert Dyer, Jr. and Dr. Leo Croft, and I, Carol Lennox. LPC, M.Ed., and Toni Crowe, write stories for New Choices about choices made by government entities, or the voting population, that literally affect the entire world.
