If you’re reading this then you’re probably debating whether or not to buy Shadow of Mordor. Well let me tell you, this is probably one of the best games I’ve ever played in my life. In case you hadn’t guessed that’s what I’ve been doing for most of my life, playing games. Shadow of Mordor’s graphics and gameplay, Nemesis System and existence in one of the greatest fantasy worlds of all time sets it apart from every other game.
Shadow of Mordor’s graphics are top notch especially on a rainy night. As you roam through the pure open-world and you encounter the animals, enemies, and environment of the game you’ll notice the sheer detail that went into everything. You can see the individual spikes and plates on the back of a Caragor, the individual leaves on the bushes and the facial expressions and configurations of the Uruks you encounter.
Adding to the graphics, the gameplay makes you feel like you can go anywhere and do anything. As you run, jump, climb and fight your way through Mordor everything becomes fluid and lithe, blending fights against massive hordes of Uruks with isolated stealthy encounters seamlessly making the entire game run smoothly.
The Nemesis System is about the most perfect concept ever invented. This is what is what makes the enemies of the game so memorable. With the Nemesis System all enemies start out with a sliver of a personality and if they move up in the Uruk hierarchy that sliver becomes a full blown consciousness giving the Uruk it’s own memories, fears and hates all of which attribute to making every captain a unique experience to fight and defeat as you battle through Mordor.
Then comes the world crafted by J.R.R. Tolkien, the primary setting for the game is in Mordor, the land of the Dark Lord, Sauron. This region of the world is where the greatest amount of enemies gather in Tolkien’s world and was also the true epitome of evil during the Lord of the Rings series. This game introduces new lore to discover and learn about Mordor.
So if you haven’t quit reading to go buy the game already, you need to shut the computer off and go to the store. You’re going to have a blast running around in this constantly changing world.
