No more pretending to take classes with your action figure collection: Now you can attend Defense Against the Dark Arts online.
Diehard “Harry Potter” fans around the world are about to emit a collective squeal that will reverberate around the globe. HogwartsIsHere.com just launched, and the website offers enrollment in online wizardry classes.
The classes run a solid nine weeks, which is not a small time commitment. Something tells me anyone dedicated enough to enroll will make time.
Prospective students can choose from a course catalogue that includes Charms, Potions, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Astronomy, Herbology, History of Magic and Transfiguration. With homework, quizzes and tests throughout, authenticity is at the heart of this initiative.
Designed by Muggles for Muggles, this is the latest escape into the world of magic yet. Seeing as each “Harry Potter” book is so large that it could double as a weapon, these classes will probably prove to be just as time consuming.

She earned degrees in Politics and French from Bates College in Maine, but more importantly discovered a niche for herself at the campus radio station. A tireless new music hound, she enjoys timeless novels, distant lands, all plant life, photography and running. Technically from Chicago but raised abroad by a pair of foreign correspondents, wanderlust and writing intersect at her core.
