‘Karate Kid Legends’ is out now on Digital
The first Karate Kid movie was really amazing. The story is told was a timeless one, and it took audiences on a thrilling adventure. Karate Kid Part 2 did a great job telling the next chapter in this story. Cobra Kai was a wonderful show that took this series to new heights while also bringing some tales to a satisfying conclusion. When I first heard about Karate Kid Legends, I hoped it would be good. I was able to get a digital code for this movie and here what I thought of it.
You can read the plot for this film here:
When kung fu prodigy Li Fong (Ben Wang) relocates to New York City with his mother to attend a prestigious new school, he finds solace in a new friendship with a classmate and her father. But his newfound peace is short-lived after he attracts unwanted attention from a formidable local karate champion. Driven by a desire to defend himself, Li embarks on a journey to enter the ultimate karate competition. Guided by the wisdom of his kung fu teacher, Mr. Han (Jackie Chan), and the legendary Karate Kid, Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), Li merges their unique styles to prepare for an epic martial arts showdown.
This wasn’t as great as I thought it would be. The beginning is fine, but slowly the story starts to lose steam from there. It also goes in directions sometimes that hurt it more than doing it much good. The ending was quite predictable and included a cameo that was unnecessary with jokes that were not that funny at all. ‘Two Masters, One Student’ showed how much fun the cast and crew had working with Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan. ‘Honoring the Miyagi Legacy’ revealed the work that was put in to make sure that the details in this movie were done just right. There is also a pretty funny Gag Reel and a few cool deleted scenes. Some people might like this movie, but I wouldn’t recommend it.
Karate Kid Legends is out now on Digital and arrives on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-Ray and DVD August 26th. You can follow this film on Facebook and Instagram.
