An interesting story gets told in ‘Attaboy’
As a kid, I played my share of video games. Each one was a lot of fun and took me on some exciting adventures. In my adult years I still enjoy playing video games sometimes. When I heard about Attaboy I was intrigued to learn more about it. I was able to get a digital copy of this graphic novel and here is my thoughts on it.
You can read the plot for Attaboy here:
Boy robots. Fallen fathers. Evil motherboards.
Do we ever stop playing the games we played as children?“There’s a video game from when I was a kid that no one else seems to remember.”
Attaboy is an action-adventure comic disguised as an illustrated instructional booklet for a video game. The “byte”-sized hero is forced to avenge the destruction of his father and creator, Dr. Atta, by the sinister rebellious mechazoid Motherboard. However, the turn of each page unravels a much deeper story of pixelated thoughts, real world references, and heartbreaking truths.
This was an interesting graphic novel. It tries to tell the story about a weird video game that someone swears they played as a kid. It was certainly different and appeared to go off in some peculiar directions as it moved along. Yet once this tale comes to a close some readers will be intrigued to try and find someway to try this game out.
Attaboy is out now. You can order this graphic novel on Amazon, at Barnes and Noble and on Bookshop.
