The republic prepares for a huge celebration in ‘The Rising Storm’
I have been lucky to read a couple of the High Republic books and have enjoyed each one. They tell of a time in Star Wars lore long before any of the films. We see a galaxy at peace but this doesn’t mean there aren’t any threats out there. In Light of the Jedi we got to see just how powerful one of these threat can be. Now as preparations for a huge celebration are underway a deadly group gets ready to move forward with the next phase of their plans in The Rising Storm. I was able to get a review copy of this book and here is what I thought of it.

In the wake of the hyperspace disaster and the heroism of the Jedi, the Republic continues to grow, bringing more worlds together under a single unified banner. Under the leadership of Chancellor Lina Soh, the spirit of unity extends throughout the galaxy, with the Jedi and the newly established Starlight Beacon station at the vanguard.
In celebration, the chancellor plans the Republic Fair, a showcase of the possibilities and the peace of the expanding Republic—a peace the Jedi hope to foster. Stellan Gios, Bell Zettifar, Elzar Mann, and others join the event as ambassadors of harmony. But as the eyes of the galaxy turn toward the fair, so too does the fury of the Nihil. I had a hard time putting this book down. We got to see the Republic prepare for a huge celebration, one that was meant to garner peace across the galaxy. While this is going on it looks like the Nihil are planning something. Even though things inside this organization aren’t perfect, this is a plan they can all get behind. Just when things with this celebration are going smoothly, an attack happens that takes everyone by surprise. The Jedi must scramble to find a way to stop them and save those they can along the way. Once this attack is stopped the Republic comes up with a risky plan. Just when victory seems assured something happens that shakes this group to their core.
