A fun story gets told in ‘Scaredy Squirrel Gets a Surprise’
I have been lucky to read a good amount on children’s fiction lately. Most of the time these books take me on some amazing adventures. When I heard about Scaredy Squirrel Gets a Surprise I thought it might be a fun graphic novel to read. I was able to get a digital copy of this graphic novel and here is my thoughts on it.

In this NUTTY ADVENTURE, Scaredy is in for a big surprise…. And Scaredy does NOT like surprises. He is a squirrel who likes a schedule, predictability, nothing unexpected. So, what’s inside the mysterious crate? Turns out it’s a POOL! Scaredy imagines sharks, eels, and algae! He prepares safety rules! Luckily his friends Ivy, Timber, and newcomer Rash are happy to remind him of another important rule…having fun!
I had a tough time putting this graphic novel down. We see Scaredy Squirrel receive an unexpected crate, and they fear bad things might be inside it. They ask a friend for help in getting it to Antartica as quickly as they can. When this proves to be tougher than they thought, other friends come in to help. Once Scaredy finds out what is inside it, their entire mood changes. As this story comes to a close, Scaredy and their friends has a fun day playing in their new pool.
