Correction: I used to be that guy.
Now I have a Good Grips Tabletop Spiralizer, and my zucchini doesn’t have a chance to molder — it becomes pasta. With many fewer carbs than real pasta. I can create spaghetti (1/8th inch), fettuccine(1/4 inch, or ribbon cut noodles.
The OXO Good Grips 3-Blade Tabletop Spiralizer has been a Wirecutter pick since 2016. It was recently chosen again as the best. As Wirecutter notes:
You get consistent strands of cucumber curls for salads or butternut squash noods ready to sizzle in a pan with tomatoes and basil.
The OXO spiralizer comes with three blades: two for spaghetti-like noodles and one that makes a wider ribbon. I mostly use the noodle blades, but the ribbon blade makes nice work of cucumbers. For fun I used it on a few large dill pickles to create a more interesting Beyond Burger topper.
The blade box fits into the spiralizer, so you probably won’t lose the blades in your cabinet.
Amazon buyers are even more enthusiastic:
OXO has once again knocked my socks off with their brilliant simplicity. I researched dozens of spiralizers before choosing this one. I wanted one that was a little more compact, easy to operate and easy to clean. As soon as I got it in the mail, I rushed to the grocery store to pick up some zucchini and give these zoodles I’ve been hearing so much about a try. I was able to put it together without even reading the instructions in less than 2 minutes and had 4 zucchini spiralized in less than 10.
The device is correctly sized: 6.25 x 9.75 x 8.25 inches. The gripper really locks it on the counter. And the price isn’t insane: $37.46. [To buy it from Amazon, click here.]
This video shows you just how smartly simple it is to use.
