Keith Owens is a freelance writer, columnist, blogger, journalist and musician whose work has been featured in The Detroit Free Press, Detroit’s alternative newsweekly the Metro Times, the Fort Lauderdale Sun Sentinel, and other newspapers. He was also a nationally syndicated columnist with Universal Press Syndicate for three years beginning in 1993.
The Mayonnaise Murders, a humorous science fiction/fantasy detective novel, was published in March, 2013 by Detroit Ink Publishing, co-founded by Mr. Owens with his wife, Pamela Hilliard Owens, in 2012. The Mayonnaise Murders Part 2 was released one year later in October 2014. Who Stole the Zmulobeast?, his first novel for children, and Fire and Wanda, a semiautobiographical novel, were both also released in 2013. As a musician, Mr. Owens has worked primarily in the Detroit area for more than two decades fronting his own bands (Blue Spirit Tribe and Freedom Underground) and also working with well-known local talent such as Jocelyn B, Priscilla Price, Harmonica Shaw, Kenny Miller, Niecie Blues, and Luther “Bad Man” Keith.
