Dr. Spencer A. Murray

Dr. Spencer A. Murray is an Educator, Minister, Author, and Co-Founder/Executive Director of NO HARM.

He works as a Violence Prevention Consultant, a Family Violence Intervention Program Facilitator, and a Restorative Justice Practitioner. He is also an Associate Minister at Transforming Love Community in Detroit, MI.

He is a former educator with the Detroit Public Schools where he taught at Paul Robeson Academy, an African-Centered School, and the Academy of the Americas, a Dual Language Immersion School. He has received advanced degrees from Western Michigan University and Wayne State University. He received a Doctor of Ministry Degree from New York Theological Seminary, where his doctoral work focused on the influence of patriarchy in religion, and its attempts to oppress and perpetrate violence towards women. Based on his dissertation, Spencer published, Conspiracy of Silence: The Religious and Patriarchal Roots of Violence Towards Women.

His work with boys and men, as well as his own journey to free himself from the prison of toxic masculinity, recently led him and his wife, Erica, to establish NO HARM ™, The National Organization for Healing and Redefining Manhood ™, where they encourage men to embrace healthy narratives of manhood that reduce harm towards themselves, women, and the community.
