Compassion is the concern for suffering and the hope for wellbeing. It can be easy to feel compassion for others, but often much more difficult to feel it for the person who deserves your compassion the most: yourself. In today’s society, feeling compassion for oneself can be mistakenly labeled as selfishness and exude guilt. But there is absolutely nothing wrong with being kind to yourself. In fact, showing yourself patience and kindness, acknowledging your suffering and trials, and bestowing forgiveness upon yourself are some of the grandest gifts you can give. This holiday season, give yourself the gift of compassion.
