Many American companies are frequently facing external threats to their security by way of hackers breaching weak infrastructures. Unfortunately, most companies are unprepared for America’s digital infrastructure to be under siege by cyber threats targeting small to medium sized businesses with gaps in their cybersecurity framework. Arjun Subramanian, a cloud computing, cybersecurity, and technology expert, is using years of experience to help organizations defend themselves against threats and unlock new efficiencies to protect American businesses. IT modernization is essential to the fight against rising cyberattacks. Businesses cannot afford to ignore the rapid speed at which hackers are advancing technologically, using AI-powered malware and stolen login details from the dark web to breach once-secure systems that simply haven’t kept up.
“A huge mistake I see is companies thinking cybersecurity is just an IT problem that can be solved with a few firewalls,” he says. “But it’s so much more than that—it’s a business-wide risk. I’ve seen companies who have invested in basic security tools but still leave their cloud systems exposed or don’t enforce strong access controls. It’s like locking the front door to your house but leaving the back wide open.” Arjun has worked with healthcare systems that still rely on outdated tech unequipped to handle modern cyber threats. Hackers often encrypt patient records and demand ransom, delaying care for those who need it most. For hospitals, this sort of disruption affects not only the company’s financial situation but can put patients needing essential care at serious risk. So, upgrading tech – while not always the most convenient or cheap option in the moment – is integral for making companies resilient and adaptable in the face of cyberattacks, protecting the vulnerable before hackers have the chance to cause serious harm.
While many people are unnerved by the rise in artificial intelligence, fearing that it will take their jobs away, the truth is that these technologies are actually creating more opportunities than ever before within the fields of cybersecurity and cloud computing. “Instead of replacing jobs, AI is helping professionals become more efficient,” Arjun explains. “Take cybersecurity analysts, for example. A decade ago, they would spend hours sifting through alerts, trying to figure out which ones were worth investigating. With AI, those tools can filter through massive amounts of data in seconds, highlighting only the real threats. This gives the analyst more time to focus on complex problems, like thwarting advanced cyberattacks.” Of course AI is changing things, but maybe that’s just a path towards adapting and growing alongside those changes.
As for cyberthreats, those will always exist as long as technology is present. Arjun recommends three major methods for making America’s digital systems more protected and efficient. The first would be to modernize infrastructure across the board, moving away from outdated, on-premises data centers towards cloud-based solutions. The second is to adopt zero-trust security, a format that ensures no one ever gets access to sensitive data without proving they’re authorized each and every time. This is so effective because it guarantees that hackers can’t move freely across systems even if they’ve breached one part of it. Finally, Arjun encourages businesses to invest in both recovery and threat detection tools to double-end protection from financial collapse. Long downtimes are a huge concern many companies face when managing the aftereffects of a cyberattack, so it’s critical that protection exists in case hackers are able to initially break through. With careful monitoring and a willingness to evolve, companies can safeguard precious data and the livelihoods of both their employees and customers.
Arjun isn’t just focused on stopping cyber threats. He is passionate about helping businesses grow, keeping communities strong, and making sure everyday people have the protection they deserve. By helping companies modernize their tech and strengthen their security, he’s giving them the tools they need to not just survive but thrive in today’s digital world. Stronger businesses mean more jobs, more innovation, and a safer, more resilient economy. At the end of the day, Arjun believes that technology should work for people, not against them. With the right approach, businesses can stay protected, adapt to change, and keep moving forward with confidence.
