What’s important to you? What makes you happy? What’s going to keep making you happy? Living a shallow, materialistic, purposeless life is old news. The new Joy won’t be bought by cars, houses, boats, or things. The new Joy is through inner work and in 2022 things are changing. If you haven’t taken some time to dive deep within yourself then the time is now.
Everyone wants to live the “good life”. Why not have the cars and the house? There’s nothing wrong with that, but I can promise you that your two-seater is going to feel awfully empty if you haven’t taken some time to do the inner work, going deep within yourself, to figure out what you really care about in life. Everybody ends up doing it eventually, it just comes down to whether you want to waste a bunch of time beforehand or get that tough conversation with yourself over with now.
Each of us has a powerful inner-self. It’s that voice that seems to speak to you at just the right moment to keep you out of trouble, that gut instinct that keeps you away from a bad deal, that feeling you get about someone that turns out to be right. You are more powerful than you could ever imagine and the sooner you choose to tap into that the sooner you are going to feel like you are on your destined path to greatness.
Religions and beliefs don’t matter here, we’re talking about something that’s innate inside each and every one of us as human beings. Something that for thousands of years people have developed different methods of activating to experience self-actualization and prosperous fulfilling life. That thing is your inner space and the sooner you start to investigate it the sooner you will tap into a well of fulfillment and purpose that never stops flowing.
Reflections on Morals and Ideals is a book written by Nashville-based entrepreneur and designer Nicholas Warren Steury that investigates this inner space, gives a framework to this inner space, and gets you thinking about how your inner space is interacting with others on a daily basis. We may feel like we are one person but we are actually two people, the first is who we are today and the second is who we can be tomorrow. The best part about it is that both of those people can continue to get better and better every day for the rest of your life, but without the proper blueprint and ideas it can be hard to decide which direction you want to steer yourself.
The author is a business owner, a designer, and a speaker who has gone through the same journey you might be going through today. “I had some money and could do whatever I wanted but I still felt like there was something missing..” he said. “It wasn’t until I turned my attention to my inner life, that inner space, it was there that I started to find real fulfillment that made me feel grateful to be alive.”
By looking at what’s important to us, our priorities and our morals, we can identify how we want to shape and mold ourselves to be the best fit for our ideal self tomorrow. As you read this book you might find that some of the things you are doing are not actually in line with the person you want to be, and that’s okay. It was written to challenge you, and through that to be a catalyst for positive change in your life and behavior.

Cheers to new life.
