The spring runs down to meet the lake where its lambent surface reflects this magnificence back into the heavens.
Along its riparian course, the mighty alders thrive, they are a rare site on this drier side of the mountain.
Here within the desiccated ecology, stream and lake create a true oasis and refuge for all.
Within this refugia, separated by time and distance from the closest water source, the small life has begun to change, adapting itself to this place and it’s specific demands.
For some, this change has been so utterly complete that within this small tableau there are three new species; found here and nowhere else in the world.
The rich, wild and abundant places of the earth are the engine rooms of evolution and it is here that Gaia’s transcendent alchemy creates new life.
