Take This Job and Shove It!
Six little words – but oh how good it would feel to say them.
Go ahead and shout out loud right now. TAKE THIS JOB AND SHOVE IT!
Ah, doesn’t that feel great?
In reality, we’re not often in a position to say exactly what we think, right at the moment we want. And, naturally, if you decide to leave a job it’s always better to do so on good terms.
I’ve had lots of jobs over the years. Some were great and others awful.
There is one thing the hellacious jobs all had in common. When I parted ways with my employers I was immediately relieved at the removal of that karmic burden on my soul.
I remember five minutes after leaving problem jobs I would
scream out, Hell Yeah!
A 1000-pound weight had been lifted from my mind.
Leaving a job that is emotionally draining is a healthy step to take. It’s all about your outlook.
Life continually presents challenges. Family responsibilities, financial pressures, fear of making change, we can always come up with rationale for staying with the status quo. Frequently feeling trapped keeps us in our jobs long after their sell-by date.
It’s a bit like extricating yourself from an intolerable romantic relationship. Breaking up is hard to do!
That’s O.K. As long as you are aware how much the job is chipping away at your quality of life it’s in your power to take control. You may not be able to leave at present, but you can make a conscious choice not to let the job, your boss or whatever the pressure, get the best of you.
Being mindful and aware leads to a healthier and happier existence – not just in the job but in all aspects of your life. Spend a little time thinking about what brings you joy, calm, happiness, pleasure, and inner-peace.
When you’re ready to make a move, you will.
If you’re reading this article at a moment when you’re not feeling fulfilled, decide to make a change. It doesn’t have to be right away. Three months, six months, a year, it’s not important because now you know yourself a bit better and are poised to seek or create new opportunities.
If you’d like a jump start email me and I’ll send you a Mind Acrobatics™ exercise that will get the juices flowing. Click here and you’ll find all my contact information as well as other articles that might be of interest. Put “Take This Job and Shove It” in the subject line.
In the meantime, think about this. Life is way too short. Our time on Earth is a tiny speck in the overall scheme of things. None of us should waste it with worry, stress and useless negative emotions.
You have the power to create a GREAT LIFE. Use it!
And now a motivational song for your listening pleasure!
