Dr. Brenda Bradshaw is the Founder and Director of Infinity Academy in Springfield, MO, a school for autistic students. She’s also a published author best known for her book The Alien Logs of Super Jewels and has recently finished the script for The Alien Logs of Super Jewels the musical.
The Infinity Academy is a place where children learn in a self-paced environment and provides supports such as cognitive therapy, social communication, executive function, positive behavioral support and development of self-awareness and social skills. It lets kids on the spectrum be themselves and learn to love themselves for their unique abilities.
I’ve known Dr. Bradshaw since I moved to the Ozarks nearly two years ago and she is a friend, a mentor and inspires me to do my best when working with high school students and young adults. She knows about autism first hand as she has a daughter on the spectrum and that daughter was the inspiration behind The Alien Logs of Super Jewels and now the musical.
With the script written, the project is now in the hands of a New York City based composer who is working on the score. The finished product should be quite exciting and we’re hoping to see Super Jewels on stage sometime in the next year or so.
Listen in as I talk with Dr. Bradshaw about these projects and more in our conversation.
