A generator takes text, a still, or a short reference and returns motion. Platforms then add styles, ratios, and a download. Roundups score speed, a free tier, and how “cinematic” the sample looks. Those are fair notes for a hobby clip. They do not tell you whether the bottle in second twelve is the bottle you photographed.
Text-to-video and image-to-video should be chosen for different days. If you have no still, say so and explore. If you have a still, attach it and forbid a new object. Using the text box because the photo “is not ready” is how a label gets redesigned by accident.
Nobody needs a camera truck for a twenty-second test. Somebody still needs to watch the object. Credits are limited. A trial is a way to see a file, not a promise that every export is unmarked or free to run as an ad. Check the plan you are on.
Make the still before you ask it to move
Image-to-video cannot repair a poster that already lies. Last month’s price, a misspelled word, a second product the prompt invented: motion will advertise all of it.
GPT Image 2.5 is OpenAI’s image model, reached through a hosted workspace, for that earlier pass. Output holds up at larger sizes. Color is less likely to fall apart when you return for another edit. Counts, materials, camera direction, and layout are more likely to survive the prompt. Skin, fabric, labels, and product edges stay steadier across a set. Use it for the frame you will later put in motion. Read every character in the type. Generated headlines still invent letters.
If the idea has no object yet, make a concept still and label it as a concept. If the idea is something you sell, attach the photograph you already paid for. Mixing those two briefs is how “text-to-video” quietly replaces your catalog.

Keep the sentence in the agent you already use
The prompt that matters is rarely the one typed into a fresh homepage. It is the note next to the file names: the ratio, the one feature, the things that must not appear. That note often already lives in Codex, Cursor, or Claude Code.
An AI video plugin is how that note stays there. It is not a browser extension, and ordinary ChatGPT web chat will not take the install. Copy the prompt from the plugin page, finish sign-in, and use Codex if that is the agent on the ChatGPT side. Plans that block plugins are the wrong door.
The agent holds the intent. A canvas holds the stills and the takes, so the test is not only a chat scroll. If you are not working in one of those agents, use a normal browser generator and say so. The plugin does not publish the clip.
Then generate a take with a clock
Once the still is honest, pick the path on purpose. Text-to-video if you are still exploring and can throw the clip away. Image-to-video if the approved frame is the subject. In either case, write the seconds. A three-second loop cannot hold a claim. Stitching several short files is how the object changes between cuts.
Seedance 2.5 is a multimodal model for about four to thirty seconds from text plus image, video, and audio references, with timing you can write in seconds. Hosted export is typically 1080p-class, not a 4K poster. Attach the still when you have one. “0–4s the approved frame; 4–14s a slow move on the one feature in the note; 14–22s hold for a caption I will type — no extra hands, no new room.” If second eighteen grows a different product, reject it.
Audio you attach is a reference, not a license. Captions you check still beat lines the model composed. Do not treat this model as a second image editor or a second plugin. One prepares the frame. One keeps the sentence. One shoots the scene.

A shorter way to read a “best of” list
Ask which input you actually have. A paragraph, a photograph, or both. Ask whether the photograph can survive another edit before it moves. Ask whether the sentence is still in the tool that will generate. Ask whether you can set length and ratio before you spend the credit. Then watch the file small, and once with the sound off.
If those answers are no, the tool with the longest feature list will still invent a scene you cannot sell. Text-to-video is for a direction you have not locked. Image-to-video is for a still you have. The plugin is for the day the brief is already written. Seedance 2.5 is for the day that brief needs a scene long enough to judge.
Use GPT Image 2.5 when the frame is the thing that is wrong. Stay in the plugin when the words are already in the agent. Call Seedance 2.5 when the take has to last. Keep the clip you compared to the original.
