Want to be happier at work, life, and love? Whether you’re an entrepreneur, an employee, a homemaker, or your own boss, the pursuit of happiness is always on the agenda. And by following these four tips, you’ll cut out a great deal of stress from your life – and fill in the void with some good, old-fashioned happiness
Let’s get started:
Happiness Tip #1: Don’t Make Money the Main Thing.
Making money to get “stuff” is a sure way to a miserable life. While it’s nice to get a bigger, nicer car, in a matter of weeks it’s going to be “just your car” – and you’ll soon find yourself wanting something more. It’s a cycle that repeats itself, and you’ll never be satisfied.
Here’s my advice: Don’t make money the main thing. Make HAPPINESS the main thing. Decide your absolute minimum requirements to be happy – whether it regards your house, car, living arrangements, income, ANYTHING – and strive to achieve no more than that.
Happiness Tip #2: Give More.
Giving isn’t just for church! You can give your time, your talents, or your money – whatever it is you have in abundance, give some of it away.
Giving fills you with the wonderful “abundance mentality,” where you realize that there’s really more than enough for everyone. It’s a great mindset for an entrepreneur to have, because not only do you get rich along the way, but you help the people around you enrich their lives, as well.
Happiness Tip #3: Write a Gratitude Journal.
During your evenings, take a few minutes to write a gratitude journal. It’s a small notebook (or document on your computer) where you write down the people, events, situations, and things you’re thankful for on that day. You won’t believe how much these few minutes will do for your happiness level!
As the saying goes: “You receive more of what you’re thankful for.” What do you want to receive more of? Write it down, and be thankful for them every single day!
And lastly:
Happiness Tip #4: Make More Friends.
Lastly: Make more friends. Even if you’re the type who’d rather have a few very close friends than a large number of acquaintances – go out and meet people! You’ll be surprised at how much happier you’ll be if you simply made two or three new friends to spend your down time with.
It doesn’t even matter WHERE you make new friends, whether it’s at work, or in your neighborhood, or at church. Science has proven it time and again: The more friends you have, the happier and healthier you’ll be.
Happiness is a Choice, Not a Right
If you’re reading this article on your computer, then there’s a pretty good chance you live in a country where the pursuit of happiness is a guaranteed right. But while you might enjoy the RIGHT to pursue happiness, it doesn’t GUARANTEE you’ll find it. That’s your job. So go out there, follow the four tips in this article, and make this the happiest year of your life.

Hi Kevin,
Thanks for an uplifting read. Yes, it’s affirming to give – I read recently that people often restrain their giving because they fear they won’t have enough for themselves. When we ‘let go’ of that thought and give unreservedly, (when we can) amazing things can happen.
Regards
Anita
Hi Anita,
My pleasure, I’m glad that you were inspired! Everyone, can “give” love and blessings freely, which will open the way to give other things like money. It’s important to start where you are! Cheers!
Thank you for reading and commenting!
