We all have expectations. We want someone or something at different stages in our lives.
The problem is most relationship expectations are selfish. We try to connect the person with our personal agenda. But in order for a relationship to work, you have to consider the other person first. This does not mean you have to neglect your needs.
However, when you respect and honor someone, their happiness becomes your priority. Because when they are happy, you are happy, and when they are troubled, your mind is troubled too.
This analogy of selflessness attracts people of like minds. If you show people you respect and honor them, that energy is reciprocated towards you.
When you go into a relationship with your partner’s agenda in mind, and they have your agenda in mind, you push toward each other. But when you are giving while the other person is taking, you will get tired, and the relationship will collapse.
There is a saying, we attract who we are, and it’s true. Our expectations don’t always reflect our values, but our principles do.
People who respect others attract partners who hold the same values as them. The push toward each other creates a strong bond. If two people don’t share the same principles, that connection rarely holds.
So if you want to attract people who share the same principle as you, there are five steps you must follow to prepare yourself for what you desire.
Be proud of who you are
The first step to attracting someone who shares your values is to know your self-worth.
Relationships tend to cause people to give up on themselves so much for their partners. As a result, they lose touch with their personal worth.
It subconsciously becomes a habit of seeking confirmation from the person they are with, which is not a healthy trait.
Knowing your self-worth can help you understand that you are complete even outside of a relationship. It also creates an immeasurable level of confidence.
And being confident in yourself can help prevent feeling taken advantage of and help your partner understand what hurts your feelings.
When you value yourself, others will value you as well. You set the standard of how you are viewed and treated by how you view and treat yourself.
Keep your stress level is under control
Stress brings out the worst qualities in us. When we are highly stressed, we become distracted, withdrawn, and less clingy. We are more irritable and argue more often about matters we would normally ignore.
So if you want to attract people who will respect you for who you are, it’s time to start decluttering your life and simplifying it to the most essential and valuable elements.
Look around you for all the nonessential things or habits in your life, such as material possessions, jobs demanding time and energy, exhausting people, or tolerances that cause you stress.
If you fill your time with activities or obligations that you don’t like or cause you stress, start eliminating them.
When you learn to calm yourself and take control of your emotions, you can be in alignment with your values.
Know how to communicate with people
Sometimes relationships are awkward, and you get into conversations that make you want to teleport to a place other than that moment.
If you are a good communicator, you should listen rather than speak. When you give someone else the platform to express their thoughts, they are more likely to return the favor.
Not only will they want to hear what you have to say, they will also want to implement your ideas into their decisions.
Respectful people listen well. They treat others as they would like to be treated, with kindness and empathy.
When we are compassionate and caring toward others, we end up becoming happier in our own lives.
Make your passion a priority
Passion helps you get out of bed in the morning and seize the moment. When you have passion, you have a vital energy with which you can make your dreams come true.
There are many benefits to being a more passionate person. With an invigorating passion for life, you can enjoy sustainable energy that motivates and inspires you.
You will also enjoy more free time, quality relationships, and people will be drawn to you. You will also enjoy an enthusiasm for life that will last a lifetime.
Enjoying life and enjoying everything you do on the path to your passion is a valuable part of life experience.
As you become more engaged with the life you have, you’ll expand your awareness of the life you dream of living.
You become more grateful, positive, and curious, you’ll open doorways of enlightenment that lead you to your heart’s desire.
Have clearly defined boundaries
We politely laugh off something that makes us uncomfortable, only to later realize we wish you’d spoken up.
Setting boundaries is both nerve-wracking and necessary, but it remains impossible without getting to know your boundaries.
Some of us learn our own personal boundaries while growing up, and many people sacrifice their boundaries for others’ sake.
The only way people will respect your boundaries is if you enforce them. You can’t fault someone for crossing your boundaries if you don’t know what they are.
So you must do the work of getting to know your boundaries before you can start honoring them.
In conclusion
If you have a burning desire to attract people who will respect you as much as your respect them, these are the five steps you must adopt as we discussed earlier:
. You should be proud of who you are.
. Make sure your stress level is under control.
. Know how to communicate with people.
. Be very passionate about your life.
. Have clearly defined boundaries.
