Are you reaching success? If not, then something is holding you back. Here are 5 things you didn’t even realize that are holding you back.
1. Planning too many things. You are trying to become great at everything you do. This is not a bad attitude to have, but it will lead you to being good at a few things, but a master at nothing.
Planning too many things causes you to never try at the things that are truly important. According to Pareto’s Principle, 80% of the results are caused by 20% of the work. But instead of focusing on this 20% you try to get all 100%, which actually gets you less results.
Limit the things you plan to 3 things a day. No more. No less. Master these three things, get them all done to the best of your ability and then call it a day.

2. Consuming too much.
There are only two roles you can fulfill: You are either a consumer or a producer. The only time this does not apply is when you are asleep. Every other time of the day you consume or produce.
At work you produce and at home you consume. The question is: Are you consuming more than you are producing? If you are, then that is holding you back on success. Successful people do not consume things nearly as much as they produce, that is why they are making a profit.
You can easily test if you are doing this by looking at how much you produce outside of work. If you do not produce anything outside of work you are only producing 40 hours a week, while consuming 72 hours (given that you sleep 8 hours a day). That is almost twice what you produce.
Look at People that are successful in their career and you will see that they spend at least double the time producing that they are consuming.

3. Hitting the alarm clock
Everyone tells you this is bad, but you still do it. You hit the alarm clock, let it snooze and start to doze of yourself. Not only is this an exceptionally bad habit to fall into, but it also prevents you from starting the day off right.
When you hit the Snooze button, you are giving in to your current emotion over your discipline. This starts the day off in passive mode already, so when the next problem arises, you will give in as well.
Start the day off strong. Do not get beaten by your Alarm Clock before the day even starts! Success is built on strong foundations, not the least of which is getting up early so you can start producing before anyone else.

4. Getting dressed the wrong way
Do you get dressed according to what you feel? Do you even plan how you dress? Or do you just throw on whatever you want to right now?
Although it is great to wear what makes you feel comfortable, what’s even greater is wearing clothes that empower you. There is a Reason you always see successful people in suits! It is not about them being professional, it is about feeling powerful, strong and like you already reached success.
There is a definite difference between feeling fantastic in the clothes you wear and feeling good in what you wear. The way you dress affects your psyche. Make it work for you instead of against you.

5. Fear is your main motivator.
Most of the things you do every day are not done because you want to do them, but because you are scared of not doing them. You go to the job you hate out of fear of ending up on the street. You talk to people you do not like out of the fear of being alone. And you listen to the bad advice people give you out of fear of them leaving you.
All of this is holding you back because you are not actively choosing what you want to do. Fear controls your life.
Start doing things because you love to do them instead of fearing not to. Successful people do not become successful in things they hate doing, unless they have an extraordinary amount of self-discipline that not even 1% of the population could ever hope to achieve.
◊♦◊
Successful people reach success in the areas they love. They are able to work 12+ hours a day because they enjoy it, not because they fear the consequences of not doing it. Do more things that you want to, no matter how stupid they are, and you will let go of Fear.
Fear will never be able to motivate you nearly as strong as Joy will. Take up the better Motivator and allow success into your Life.
