I’m a mom of two children, Noah and Miriam and wife to husband, Hal. I’ve been in wine sales for six years. Hal is a retail store manager and also a professional magician, face-painter, and balloon artist.
In 2010, Hal and I experienced a tragedy in our lives when our then two-year-old son, Noah, drowned in a pool. Losing Noah devastated me, but also gave me a renewed purpose and passion for what’s important in this world.
After Noah’s accident, the local community passed an ordinance to require proper fencing around pools. Noah’s Ordinance not only changed laws but raised awareness locally and beyond. I’m also a blogger and love to write. The name of my blog is A Top the Ferris Wheel. I enjoy gardening and cooking.

What I do well as a mom.
I’m good at finding items my daughter misplaces and can’t find. I’m also good at turning tears into laughter; remaining calm and keeping my composure.
What I learned from another mom.
The other moms at Miriam’s school are so real and so helpful. I’ve learned that not brushing our kid’s hair two days in a row is not the end of the world. And that it’s perfectly normal for them to have a repertoire of four foods that they eat on a rotating schedule.
Lesson learned from my child.
Noah taught me that it’s ok to jump in the mud puddle under the swings.
Miriam taught me doughnuts with rainbow “sprinkles” usually helps in many situations.
Successful motherhood moment.
After our Guinea pig, Naomi, died, I was worried about how I would explain this to Miriam. We talk about her brother Noah as her Angel Brother. So I sat Miriam down on the floor after I had wrapped Naomi in a towel. I told her that Naomi has died. She was very old and its very sad, but we gave her a happy life with our family. Miriam looked at Naomi without any tears yet. Just really thinking it through. And then she said “Naomi’s face isn’t moving anymore. So now she’s our Angel Pig like our Angel Brother Noah?”
Mom I admire.
My best friend, Stacy Essex. We met when we were twelve years old. She has two boys. Joshua and Mathew. She is firm, yet fun and loving, in the most amazing way, like a wine in perfect balance. I admire the open communication between her and her children. She was right by my side when Noah died. She is a therapist, a breast cancer survivor, a great friend, and a mom I love and admire.
