Felicia Hardy is a woman with a taste for the finer things in life and the skill set to get whatever she wants. Be it a vault, mansion or museum, Felicia, a world renown cat burglar can get in and out with her treasure.
But life isn’t all that easy for Felicia, A.K. A. Black Cat, who is on the run from the New York Thieves Guild (who knew they were unionized) and from the police due to a previous run-in with Spider-Man.
This brand-new story opens with Felicia entering a lavish party to show off the amazing Frick Collection of art. Almost immediately upon entering she runs into a woman named Odessa Drake, the one in charge of the aforementioned Thieves Guild.
Odessa reminds Felicia of the debt she owes the Guild and Felicia seems to not care one bit. It’s pretty obvious that both women are there to work and are stepping on each other’s feet.
Sonny Ocampo, in charge of security at the event, recognizes Felicia and quickly escorts her out of the building. But this cat isn’t working alone and her distraction is just what her crew needs to get the painting they came for.
As they make their escape into the night Felica and her crew of two are attacked by a group of Ninjas, apparently representing the Guild. The Guild wants “their” painting and of course, like any good thief, the Black Cat isn’t giving it up.
As she fights the Ninjas, Ocampo suddenly appears on a borrowed moped which somehow can do 60 MPH. It’s a comic book so reality can be bent a bit, right?
Sonny ends up in the water while the Cat swings away, leading the would-be assassins with her while the crew splits with the loot. Later, they meet up at the hideout where they celebrate with music and drinks.
As they wait for their mystery buyer to show, Felicia gives the crew a chance to leave the team in order to save them from any fallout by the Guild, but the crew is sticking with the Cat.
