My brother Solomon and I don’t have a lot of experience with women since we are teenagers. We do have women in our lives who mean a lot to us, including our mom, our grandmas, our sister, and our stepmom. Even though we don’t have girlfriends, we see men treat women unfairly, such as paying women less for the same jobs and behaving disrespectfully towards women by harassing them. Often, the men don’t even seem to care that they are hurting women.
Our mom wanted to be sure that we didn’t turn out to be like those disrespectful men so she forced us to write an ebook on the subject: #RespectWomen: Why Should Men Respect Women? Writing this ebook wasn’t how we wanted to spend our holiday, but we are glad that she forced us to do it, after all. She says we are now experts on respecting women and that’s pretty cool.
Men can do better if they know where they are going wrong. Men are not evil. Sometimes men simply do not know better. In our book #RespectWomen, we share lots of ways men and boys can show respect to women by being courteous, listening to women, getting consent before touching them, and helping to support the goals of women.
Why should men respect women? It’s simple. Women are the backbone of our society. Women deserve respect. No man would achieve anything positive without the influence of a good woman.
So how do we learn how to respect women better? My brother and I have a few suggestions.
- Communicate Respectfully
- Don’t call women names, yell at them or try to hurt them intentionally.
- Protect Women
- Protect them from drama by cutting off your exes, not being needy and protecting her emotions.
- Listen to Women
- Women want to be heard. They have a lot to say. Take the time to listen to them and it will make them feel respected.

- If a woman is wearing a dress that you don’t like and she asks for your opinion. How should you respond?
