‘Dog Man’ is a fun family film
Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie was great. It told a fun story and was a joy to watch unfold. After this the adventures continued on Netflix with an animated show and a few specials after that. When news of a Dog Man came out, I wasn’t surprised. I actually read a few of these books, and they were a lot of fun. I was able to attend a screening of this film and here is my thoughts on it.
You can read the plot for Dog Man here:
When a faithful police dog and his human police officer owner are injured together on the job, a harebrained but life-saving surgery fuses the two of them together and Dog Man is born. Dog Man is sworn to protect and serve—and fetch, sit and roll over.
As Dog Man embraces his new identity and strives to impress his Chief, he must stop the pretty evil plots of feline supervillain Petey the Cat. Petey’s latest plan is to clone himself, creating the kitten Lil Petey, to double his ability to do crime stuff. Things get complicated, though, when Lil Petey forges an unexpected bond with Dog Man.
When Lil Petey falls into the clutches of a common enemy, Dog Man and Petey reluctantly join forces in an action-packed race against time to rescue the young kitten. In the process, they discover the power of family (and kittens!) to bring even the most hostile foes together.
This movie gets 8/10. Although not perfect, it was overall pretty good. There is plenty of action, and some nice silly moments. There are also some serious ones which helps bring heart into this film. Once this story comes to a close, you can tell these adventure have only just begun.
Dog Man is out in theaters now. You can follow this movie on Facebook and Instagram.
