With the Washington Post report today that President Trump disclosed “highly classified” information to Russian diplomats during a May 10th meeting in the Oval Office the question arises, when are we going to hit the bottom? This isn’t the run of the mill Trump stuck his foot in his mouth accusation, this is serious on a whole new level. As Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz said, “This is the most serious charge ever made against a sitting President.”
The information that the sources to the Washington Post allege was revealed was information that had been shared from a US ally. Information that was so classified that it was withheld from other allies and even most within the U.S. Government. For it to be freely disclosed to Russian representatives is beyond reprehensible.
Hillary Clinton was accused of treason by Trump supporters and the GOP for using an unsecured server that Russia could have hacked to obtain classified info. Now the man those same people elected is handing over state secrets during tea time at the White House. Russia is not now nor have they ever been our partners, they can’t be trusted and yet we have a President who by all appearances and statements seems to be in love with all things Putin.
Again Trump even has GOP legislators scrambling to cope with what is happening. Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, Republican Senator Bob Corker said “The White House has got to do something soon to bring itself under control and in order,” and “Obviously they’re in a downward spiral right now and they’ve got to figure out a way to come to grips with all that’s happening.” A spokesman for Speaker Paul Ryan stated “The speaker hopes for a full explanation of the facts from the administration.”
This all puts the loudest champions of the Trump campaign in a precarious position. From the chants of lock her up to Trump’s own tweets about leaks of classified information now seem extremely disingenuous at best, and outright hypocritical when held under the light of these newest allegations.
Leaking, and even illegal classified leaking, has been a big problem in Washington for years. Failing @nytimes (and others) must apologize!

The real scandal here is that classified information is illegally given out by “intelligence” like candy. Very un-American!

Lyin’ Hillary Clinton told the FBI that she did not know the “C” markings on documents stood for CLASSIFIED. How can this be happening?

Hillary Clinton should not be given national security briefings in that she is a lose cannon with extraordinarily bad judgement & insticts.

Crooked Hillary Clinton and her team “were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information.” Not fit!

Again Trump fails not only the nation but the entire world and our allies by his reckless and cavalier attitude. When is enough enough? We have, what appears, at the very least someone in the office of POTUS who doesn’t understand the responsibility of his actions and words. At the worst, we may have someone who does and doesn’t care.

I love it whenever someone is critical of Trump a supporter will immediately bring up Hillary. Yeah, but what about Hillary? Well, what about her? She lost the race, remember? And she got cleared of the e-mail charges. You don’t have to agree with it, but cleared she was. The point is, it’s over, so quit ragging on old news. Trump is in office and the GOP is the majority. So, quit bringing up Hillary and using her as a scapegoat to take the focus off those currently in power. Trump got what he wanted and so did the GOP.… Read more »
These responses are not “about” Hillary but they simply reflect the hypocrisy of the left.
I think this where you are wrong here Brad. This is part and parcel of that petri dish called Washington. These are not really separate events, but a culture of the same. They need to be tied so folks continue to see that it is not one OR the other but both AND. This is how they keep us fighting each other.
I do think it disingenuous at best, that you, or anyone else, talk about trumps Russian connection, without bringing up clinbroker of I think 20 tons of American plutonium, of which she immensely profited. Like whitewater in Arkansas. Same kind of deal over and over with them. Her corruptness is what killed her. But she can’t stop. Can you say Clinton Foundation? So when you say when is enough enough, can we also include the Clinton’s as well as the DNC?
Hmmm. When is enough enough. Seems it’s what side you’re on. On Hillary’s side it was never enough. On trump’s side it was November 9th. On Hillary’s side you have documentation of serious infractions. On trumps side you have reams of allegations that are driving Hillarys side nuts. But they were already wild eyed before any allegations.
